Grandkids Anniversary Cake

Posted by Jennifer at 4:37 PM 0 comments
Karen wanted an anniversary cake for her parents and wanted to feature the grandkids... all 11 of them! I was wondering how in the world I could incorporate 11 different grandchildren into one fall-themed cake and this is what we cake up with. Karen sent me a picture of all the kids and I created little cartoon versions of them with marshmallow fondant and then piped their names on with buttercream. The top tier was 24-Carrot Cake and the bottom tier was Banana Cream Pie Cake (one of my favorites!) The whole cake is covered in marshmallow fondant with MMF leaves and faces. So much fun! I hope the kids got to eat their own pieces :)

Hawaiian Themed Anniversary Cake

Posted by Jennifer at 6:04 PM 0 comments
This cake actually went with Pika's birthday cake that I describe below... it was his parents' 9th anniversary cake! Sarah wanted something Hawaiian to match the decor of the party but also because she loves Cake Lava and so do I!!! I modeled this cake after one of Cake Lava's beautiful creations. It was Emerald City Cake covered in marshmallow fondant, Yum! :)

One Year Anniversary

Posted by Jennifer at 7:21 PM 3 comments

I stole this picture from Betsy and Matthew's blog because her picture is better than mine :) For Betsy's wedding cake, which was one year ago, she ordered a 5-tiered pink wedding cake and added a beautiful white feather coming out of the top. The top tier of the wedding cake was a Coconut Almond Cake and she ended up eating the rest of the cake the day after the wedding. Because of this (and because the idea of freezing a cake for a year before eating it doesn't sound appealing), she ordered a one year anniversary cake that matched her original design. Matt chose Buttery Yellow Cake for this cake (yellow cake layered with chocolate buttercream) and apparently ate it all up :) I love hearing that! The cake was covered in homemade marshmallow fondant and the design was hand cut to look like the top tier of her wedding cake.
Here is the picture of the original wedding cake. Happy Anniversary you two! :)
